  • Hi there,

I have decided to get serious about sorting out my debts starting on 1 Jan 2013 so I think this will be a good encouragement for me.

I am hoping to completely pay off a Barclaycard that is currently at £885.26.

    Fingers crossed!

I'll join you in this challenge if I may, with my starting target debt sitting at a mere £373 but with an interest rate of 29.9%. I don't have much spare to throw at it, (due to the level of my debts, most interest free), but am going to give it my best shot.

I'm also trying to pay off another higher interest rate debt, (a wopping 39.7%), which currently has a balance of £259 but a further £587 to be added throughout the year, (currently bnpl), to save on £100+ interest.

Having done a snowball calculation it tells me to clear the higher one first but as that is higher, I'd like to clear them together, so the plan is to pay them both off for the bits that are being charged interest and then tackle the rest of the bnpl bill before it kicks in. This will then only leave me with one more interest charging debt and I'd like to make a move on that one before the end of 2013 if possible. (No pressure then :D)

    Current target for the year:

    Store Card - £0/£373
    Catalogue - £0/£259 and £0/£587

I would love to join in, I need to pay my debts of ASAP so I can start some serious saving for a deposit on a home for my family away from the expensive clutches of private renting in London.

I have 4 debts, pay the minimum payments for all but have a target debt which every spare penny goes on. I am focussing on the debt that has the highest APR which coincidently is also the smallest to highest.

    Debts are £453 / £2000 / £2600 / £3300

I need the first two paid by June to avoid interest charges and then focus on the last two, I am currently working 3 jobs around my children so I can pay these off and buy my own home.

    £26.26 / £453 - VERY

I've just made overpayments to my 3 interest charging debts. I decided to do all 3 as 2 of them have bnpl items due to end and this way I'm saving a lot of interest but also want to clear my target card this year.

I won't know until I get my statements, how much these debts have reduced by so won't update my signature as yet but am happy to have made this decision. I rounded down my bank account to do this.

The statements aren't generated until the end of the month so a while to wait but its a step in the right direction.

2 more small o/p today, same situation as the other day, bank round downs. Will be quite satisfying at then end of the month to see lots of payment entries on statements, which possibly costs my predators more to process than paid :D
