These vouchers are tailored to match your shopping habits. It's no coincidence you get vouchers for items you have bought before or for something similar that costs just a little bit more.

The money off a spend is also tailored to encourage you to spend just that little bit more. If you regularly spend £50 they will send you a voucher for £60 or more and so on.

Your shopping habits are tracked using your loyalty cards.

A little bit naughty, but what you could do is add some clothing in along with your shopping to increase the bill. Then use the voucher at the till to get the money off, then take the clothing back saying it didn't fit.
This way you get to use the vouchers and you also get your clubcard points.
    Very naughty but will work.:T
  • I got a few of these a few months ago; 4 vouchers at £5.00 off if I spent £50 - I forgot about them the first 3 weeks and on the 4th week remembered about them at the checkout. I was just handing over the 4th week voucher and getting ready to bin the other 3 when the assistant said she would scan the other 3 to see if they would work and they did! Ended up I got £20 off my shopping that day!!

Queenie, what vouchers did you get then?

    I got:

£1 off when you spend £5 on ice cream and frozen desserts (easily done for me when they have Haagen Daz and Ben and Jerrys on offer)
£1 off when you spend £7 on frozen meat, fish, poultry and frozen foods.
50p off when you spend £3 on bakery products including cakes.
£1 off when you spend £5 on sausages and bacon.
£1.50 off when you spend £7 on confectionery and biscuits (have to say I can do this really easily too:o)
£1 off when you spend £5 on fresh fruit and veg (easily done for me).

    My flatmate got:

50p off when you spend £4 on cheese, milk and yoghurts.
50p off when you spend £4 on kitchen and bathroom cleaning products.
£1 off when you spend £4 on frozen pizza.
£1 off when you spend £4 on health and beauty products and toiletries.
50p off when you spend £4 on soft drinks and squash.
50p off when you spend £5 on frozen meat, fish, poultry and frozen foods.

I saw about the free bag for life on the BBC website here.:)

I've never had any vouchers from tescos even though I spend a fortune there

If you spend a fortune there regularly they wouldn't be any reason to give you discounts. If you cut your shopping drastically this might trigger the vouchers to get you to spend more but who knows how these things are worked out?

There was a system I read about on here where you have two addresses ie. you and your parents and for a while everyone uses the cards attached to address 1 then you stop and both people switch purchases to the cards of address 2. The supermarket thinks you have stopped shopping there and dispatch great vouchers to "get you back". Not tried it myself.
  • ti1980 - off topic I know but watch Sainsbury sausages. I ate one last week (Organic Pork & Apple) and there was a bit of a bone in it which broke my tooth and resulted in a £25 dental bill. I am still waiting to hear from them. The Nectar vouchers I got yesterday included £5 off a £20 spirit spend, £1 off a £6 soft drink spend, £1 off £5 magazine/paper spend, along with some others that I can't recall. I also have the Tesco £8 off ones in my purse and some for £4 off a £40 Waitrose spend - somehow I don't think I'll get around to using them all.

My partner and I swap Cards now and again to fool them ! That way the vouchers keep coming to either him or me ! They notice when a card is hardly being used and thats when the vouchers come :rotfl:

Hi Organic wanabe, thanks for the warning. Sorry to hear about your tooth. I usually get the Butchers Choice sausages when they are on offer, usually a BOGOF. They haven't been on offer for a bit so I expect them to come on soon.

I never get alcohol ones, I could quite easily spend that spirit one you got!:)
Wish I had a Waitrose near me.
