HELP ! Tesco vouchers £8 off if I spend £80

I have been done by Tesco
They sent me about 10 vouchers offering me £8 off if I spend over £80.
First week was ok - I spent a bit over the £80 but bought tonnes of nappies and wipes - enough to last several months for twins :rotfl: :rotfl:
BUT yesterday I thought my trolley load wouldn't get to the £80 so I kept buying things, mostly storable stuff like bargain bubble bath but must have been lots of rubbish too because I spent £120  before the voucher and other coupons I had.
I am gutted - I was supposed to be 'being careful' and instead I feel like I have been conned
What should I do with these vouchers ? Use em up but take a calculator or what should I buy ?
To be honest I am so mad about this I feel like binning them and going to Morrisons instead :rotfl: :rotfl:

Write a list of what you need not what you want. If it comes to 80 quid then use the voucher, if it doesn't then there's no need to spend more just to get money off.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Ive never bothered with these. I have a fiver off when you spend 50 quid one, that is always around.
they just encourage you to spend more- and make you out to be getting a bargian .Fair enough if you were going to buy a telly or something from tescos, but on a weeklyu shop- not worth bothering Id say. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
thats tescos whole idea to get you in spending more than normal by making you spend £80 where as you may only normally spend £50 say. i get these from time to time, and when i have them i just shop fortnightly, use one voucher off 2 weeks shopping, works out quite effective and bin any that are out of date, might be owrth considering?

tbh (i have a feeling this might not be popular), I wouldn't worry about it too much. It sounds like the extra you spent was spent on stuff that you *would* have bought anyway, the bubble bath and what not...so, really, you have saved something.
In future, obviously, it's better to keep closer tabs on the price of things as you're going around (£81 would be better than £120), just to keep the one-off cost down, but in the long run, as long as you're sensible, you should end up £16 better off - just think of how long it'll be before you have to buy nappies and bubble bath now0 -
That is Tescos plan, best thing to do is to shop with a calculator and buy the things you need and won't waste such as toilet roll and washing powder/liquid etc.
I rarely shop at Tesco, I do most of my shopping at Sainsburys and I get really good vouchers in the post as I have a Nectar card. I actually got sent some vouchers today.
I tend to buy sausages and bacon together and one of the vouchers was £1 off when I spend £5 on sausages and bacon. I don't have a decent butcher around I don't buy value meat from the supermarket so this is a perfect offer for me as I probably would have bought it from M&S anyway.
I get good vouchers with my M&S &More card too.0 -
....
What should I do with these vouchers ? Use em up but take a calculator or what should I buy ?That's all, it's a learning curve and I know of a number of people who have ended up spending money to save money only to find they haven't actually saved anything because they've over spent! They'll get you in Morrison's too
Anyway, what to do with the vouchers? Keep them until the expiry date.
Write out your shopping list for what you *need* only. When you go shopping, take your calculator. If your shopping falls well below the £80, forget the voucher. If it comes to within a pound or two then sure, add something you *know* you use regular to take it over the £80 limit - even if it's only 5p over the £80 limit. Otherwise, forget it!
Do you have a relative or a friend you could bulk shop with so that your combined shopping would use up the voucher?
Only buy what you NEED otherwise it's a false economy and let's face it, it's only 10% off your shopping at the end of the day
ti1980 - I got my Sainsbury coupons today too - no sausage or bacon on mine though  I'm waiting to shop there on the 27th April because the Freebies board mentioned they are giving away bags for life that day instead of the cheapy carrier bags, so I'll take advantage of both sets of offers methinks~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You could try doing your shopping online and then just picking it up instore instead. You can use mysupermarket to do this and they even have a 'print list' function. That way you can bring it in at just around £80. You can also have a couple of reserve items in your trolly to bring it up just in case the prices work out a little different in store. I'd rather do this than the calculator thing, first cos I know it would slow me down and encourage me to look at stuff I shouldn't be looking at and second because I always lose my place when adding up on calcs and I'd end up doing it three times over
But don't beat yourself up, it's all a learning process and you have learned something here. And if it's mostly food you would use anyway then it hasn't been too costly longer term0 -

Should you decide to go for the online option of shopping at Tesco the following website lists a variety of money off & points codes you can try, so at the very least you can get enough money off to cover the cost of delivery.
You may have to try more than one code as often they have a limited number of uses.

If I got £8 off £80 they would go in the bin unless I was buying something electrical. No way would our family spend that in a week.
We haven't had vouchers from Tesco for a while but when we did they were for about £40 spends. Now get £4 off £40 from Sainsburys which Tesco take fine if you choose to shop there in passing but used to get vouchers for £25 spends, I hope they don't put it up beyond £40 as even choosing a £40 shop is taxing.
Good to hear there are some more Sainsburys vouchers being delivered hope they send some this way.0 -
I've never had any vouchers from tescos even though I spend a fortune there, but when my mum gives me the £12 of a £60 shop(sainsburys voucher but my tesco have a banner saying they accept them) I feel that is worth itto be updated:;)0
