My advice would be to cut along the line you want to cut to with a stanley knife and then saw on the "rubbish" side of the line. The theory being that the veneer is already cut in a nice neat line where you want it and you are just sawing the chipboard underneath.Adventure before Dementia!0

Use masking tape on the edge you'e cutting.;)0 -
make sure you have the right blade for the job- if youre using a jigsaw. and cutwith the good side facing you- the undreneath bit will be more likely to chip0

Cut it upside down. In other words with the good side facing away from you.0

I often have to cut 'Contiboard' which is similar, to a very neat finish. I used to get it cut at B&Q on their panel saw but if the blade is not new or there is a muppet cutting it, the results are often untidy. I've tried several types of circular saws, planers routers and sanders but always get the best results using a bandsaw with a fine blade (10-14 TPI) at a high speed.
Whatever you use cut it very slowly with a very sharp blade. Surprisingly, a good handsaw and a steady hand together with a little patience gives a more precise cut than some power saws as long as you let the saw 'do the work' and don't put pressure on the cut.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0
