op does it have games with it maybe they are trying to confirm your age before sending say a game rated 18 .

No the games are all rated 15 or less.

I'm sure it's that they are trying to verify that the buyer is the cardholder. In my case, the card billing address and the dispatch address are the same, so I'm guessing they are not using the address verification system offered by visa.

I do think that if retailers are going to ask for this type of info they should be upfront about it before you hit 'confirm' on the order button, or at least put it in their payment and delivery terms. There's nothing on their website to say that this is something they might request, or, that if they do request it, that they have a policy in place to protect your personal details. On that basis, I'm not happy sending personal ID to them, and am cancelling my order.
  • Coolshop are a perfectly legit Danish-based company operating in the UK and are fine to order from :). I have ordered several PC games from them in the past and they are always quick to deliver. Their prices do vary from being the best to being middle of the pack, so choosing the time and item for a good price is paramount, as with any online retailer.
I have never ordered anything very expensive like a console though, so I can't say anything about producing proof.

So the despatch address is the exactly same address as that shown on your most recent credit card statement, with the same formatting?

They probably are using AVS, but its only a small part of it.
