Points on licence for stopping on zig zags

I dropped my daughter off at school this morning, there is never anywhere to park, so I did what a lot of parents do, stopped in the middle of the road while she got out. However there was a policeman there and he took my photo, I did not park on the yellow zig zag lines, and I'm not even aware if I was alongside them I am just assuming that I was cos a photo of the car was taken. I am worried now in case I get points on my licence, I am already on 9 points, and if I get 3 more I won't be able to drive. My eldest son has disabilities and without my car I would be knackered, he couldn't get to school. I don't mind a fine, it's the points I'm worried about, does anyone know if I will get points?? Thank you in advance

Your scenario to a tee, read and wait for ticket.
Make mental note, I'm on nine points, drive like your granny.

It would be a fixed penalty of and 3 points. You do not have to accept the penalty and can opt for the matter to go to court where a judge may allow you to keep your license.

I have looked at this (found it before I posted my question) and as far as I can see the person only got a fine, it doesn't mention points
  • I have a friend who has 13 points on their license, he had to go to court but was allowed to keep his licence due to being the only transport for a disabled relative (not a child, I don't think). However, there was a hefty fine and a stinking lecture from the court. He now drives like a granny!

Stopping on a zig-zag adjacent to a pedestrian crossing is an endorsable offence (Contravention of pedestrian crossing regulations) - mandatory 3 points and a maximum fine of £1000.

Yellow zig-zags adjacent to a school aren't part of a pedestrian crossing though - the penalty would be a fine but no points.

You can't accept an endorsable fixed penalty if you're on 9 or more points - the matter would automatically go to court so the judge (or more likely magistrates) can decide on whether to ban you. However as it's not an endorsable offence, the question's academic.

Well, the amount of times I have been cut up because I am driving at 29mph.....since I got my points nearly a year ago, I am that granny! Unfortunatley grannies don't usually have to take 2 children to 2 different schools and be in 2 places at the same time. I know I can make all the excuses I like tho, the law is the law :( and I don't mind a fine at all I admit I've done wrong, but I'm hoping it won't be points (re Peter the Pipers link) fingers x'd

No points - the clue is in the fact that the ticket says "non-endorsable offence", and doesn't ask for his driving licence along with payment.
