MSE News: Millions of Lloyds customers to get letters about Co-op switch

as far as im aware, to stay with lloyds if your branch is being sold off - is to close the existing account, and reopen at a branch which isnt part of the proposed "deal".
There is a telephone procedure to open new accounts for customers that will want to stay with Lloyds - you will be credited as a brand new customer and be offered facilities based on this result.
So those with a non perfect credit file might want to think things through before going down this route.0 -
I posted a thread on here two weeks ago outlining what I did when I got this letter. The transfer has been simple and I now have the new cheque book and card and Lloyds moved all my debits as promised. And gave me a date after which to only use the new account not the old one.
They also give you a new PIN but allow you to revert to your old one. I have confirmed that both accounts are live and accessible to me. And I know when they will transfer funds from old to new - though I could pay into the new account now if I wanted. They chose the switchover date to best fit my direct debits going out.
I had no choice but to move as the branch being sold where I was still registered is 100 miles away. Have not lived there for over 11 years but Lloyds policy was not to transfer your branch when you moved - creating this problem. Though as noted one they will solve for you.
Be warned though - you have to move EVERY account separately, take out an account as a new customer even if you have been with Lloyds for decades (well over 30 years in my case) and lose any priviliges offered on old accounts not available to new customers.
And they have to read out endless terms and conditions for each account - meaning if you have more than one (eg bank account, savings, ISA etc) only phone when you have more than an hour free!0 -
I rang the transfer helpline number some time ago, and after explaining that my local branches were both staying as Lloyds, whereas my registered branch was moving to TSB, and therefore I would have no local branch to go to, they told me they had flagged my account as wishing to stay with Lloyds.
Subsequently I got a letter from Catherine Kehoe, Director Brands and Marketing, acknowledging that I wished to stay with Lloyds, and telling me I would shortly receive an information pack with my options.
I was more than a little annoyed, Ok, infuriated, to receive a new Visa Debit card the other day, telling me that my account was due to be moved to TSB, and from now on all my cards would be branded TSB.
I wrote a strongly worded letter back to Ms Kehoe, and also rang Lloyds again, who assured me my account was flagged as wishing to remain with Lloyds, and they would send another letter to that effect
I have been a customer of Lloyds for 30 years, this is my first and only bank account

But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

dilq99, I'm in the same situation. I registered my request to stay as a Lloyd's customer and then about 3 weeks later I received a letter advising me to ring them. I did so yesterday and they opened a new account for me that will be up and running within 28 days.
I also received a new debit card yesterday which I will use until my new account is open. I'm sure it's just part of the process that has to be gone through rather than them ignoring your request to stay with Lloyd's.0 -

Be patient! Your not the only customer affected. The whole process has to be completed in a structured manner.0
