Joint current account to get credit card?

Simple question:
I have a poor credit rating, but my Dad has an excellent one.
Would us opening a joint current account together make it much more likely for me to get a credit card? Or would it have little/no effect?
My dad is in a very comfortable financial situation now and doesn't mind at all if linking us financially would lower his rating.
Thank you for your help

Your dads credit rating will be ruined if he associate himself with you with a joint account.
In other words they'll check your credit files aswell every time your dad apply for credit.
Warn your dad to stay away from associating with you!0 -
Haha ok, as I tried to explain my Dad has no problem with it ruining his credit file. He is retired, extremely old and has no need for credit - paid off his mortgage years ago, has several credit cards from a long time ago with extremely high limits that he has been putting a tiny amount on every month just to keep them active for old times sake, but ultimately he's never going to need credit again.
He has offered to do it if it will help me out. Given his situation I am inclined to accept, but obviously there is no point if it will not improve my credit rating and only damage his.

bad idea
but why is your credit rating poor
what do your files say?0 -
It won't do anything to help you, it will only damage his credit rating.
As Clapton asks - why is your rating poor? Is it simply a lack of history or do you have late payments, defaults, CCJs etc?0
