Flooded :0(

Our home has been flooded in the awful weather on Saturday :0( just wondering if anyone one here is in the same boat and how they are getting on- we have claimed on our contents insurance for our stuff- we live in rented accommodation so he landlord is dealing with the house.
My question really is has anyone had to deal with insurance companies for claiming on their contents? The insurers are sending a loss adjuster and a restoration company to take the furniture??? Is this normal practice- it is all contaminated with sewerage plus flood water? My son is 2 so bit worried about the damage etc-
Sadly it was the whole of downstairs plus a few sentimental things :0(
Thanks in advance

How awful! From relatives' experience - don't be too optimistic about getting back into the house in a hurry - it was a year the first time and nearly eighteen months before all the work was done the second time.
