I am so stressed and hope that someone can shed some light so i can at least get some sleep tonight.

I am 4 years into a 5 year IVA. My IP case officier has trying to get in touch with me [payplan] as i have two outstanding payments. The only issue with this is they stop taking calls at 5pm and granted they can ring you but the woman dealing with my case only works late on night which is the one night i work late to
o. I have had a letter saying if I don't pay in 14 days then my iva might fail. This letter was dated the 19 NOv and arrived friday. Due to a prob with childcare i was home so rang and was told when the payments where outstanding from and to pay soon and to email my about my six month review.I told them yes as soon as i;ve done my budget.
I knew i would be able to get myself back on track tomoz so was going to email and say the money is in and to book the annual review and to ask if i could have a case officer that works late another night so i can arrange call to me [as even though they work late you cannot call them].
I have just received a text message to say i have a creditors meeting on fri and to be around for the call, i have no idea what this is about and even if i did i cannot just leave a class to answer a call. I am also unsure as what to do about the payments now.
My head is buzzing and i am shaking.
Please help.

  • Hi,

I'm currently in a IVA with PayPlan, my Creditors meeting was on the 6th of Sept this year.

I to have recieved texts telling me about a Creditors Meeting Friday. I contacted Payplan immediately and they said that the messages have been sent in error and to ignore them. They also said that a further message will be sent out shortly telling you to ignore the first text.

Since then i have recieved several texts telling me about Creditor meetings Friday and then a couple of hours later the follow up text.

Seems like PayPlan are having some technical issues. I can't seem to e-mail my case officer via PayPlanPlus either. I keep getting Internal Server Errors. .

Sorry I can't advise on the other issue, but thought i might calm your fears about the text messages.

    Hi,

Difficult to advise given the limited information, but bottom line is you really must get in touch with your case officer ASAP (like tomorrow during a lunch break). Remember, your IP is supposed to act as 'honest broker' - they represent your creditors and your interests.

You are nearly there, and it would be a real shame to risk failure of your plan at this late stage. (I believe the s**t really hit sthe fan if you default 3 payments, at which point your IP could petition for bankruptcy).

Sounds like this is combined with 'technical issues' as well, which can only add to the stress.

Do you have a good reason why you missed payments? If your income has dropped or you've had additional costs etc. your IP should be reasonably sympathetic, and can ultimately review your I&E, adjusting your remaining payments accordingly.

Have heard of similar cases where the missed payments are eventually tagged onto the end of your plan (so it would go on for an extra 2 months in your case).

Sincerely hope you get this matter sorted. Another MSE forum member recently posted that they were struggling with payments, and their IP lowered the payments - so it can be done.

Best of luck, and please keep us updated.
  • I too have an IVA with payplan. They do seem to have a glitch today and I got a text message tonight apologising about a creditors meeting on Friday.

In the early days, I had problems with my case officer who didn't appreciate I only had an hours lunch break to talk and that I couldn't always talk with other people in my office. Anyhow, I now find that my case officer responds really quickly to emails and if she is absent that day, someone else always replies.

I hope you manage to get in touch with them soon and sort this out so you can rest easy again.

Thanks for the replies. I have tossed and turned and been up for last hour wandering the house. it does make sense that it is a technical glitch as the time on the text is really strange... 1.53pm. I could understand 150 or 155.

I am going to make the two outstanding payments in a minute that will bring the account up to date. So hopefully even if there is a creditors meeting at least all payments are correct.

  • Yup, Payplan been having text-woe.

Ignore - unless you do have a creditors meeting on Friday, and if you do, you would certainly have been aware of it before now.
