Im going to ROME for the weekend, any tips?

If you are planning on going to the vatican, I would really recommend booking onto one of the Vatican's guided tours (there are english guides). This way you can jump the enormous queue and walk straight in - don't remember it being that expensive either.

To do this, you need to go onto vatican website, and they've got details - you need to fax your request no more than a month before you want to visit.

also - look through guide books for good places to eat - like any big city lots of lovely little restaurants where you can get cheap decent meal, but hard to find if you dont know where to look.

Colloseum was also one of my favourite bits - i'd recommend the audio tour.

We flew with either Ryanair or easyjet (i can't remember) we got a cab into Rome but later found out that the airline provide a bus to transfer people to the town centre (small fee)
Watch out for beggers on the underground. I found it a bit scarey but otherwise a lovely city.

Have you had a look at this site http://www.hotelconnect.co.uk

I booked through them the last time I went, but the hotel I was in isn't available for your dates so I can't give a personal recommendation. They seem among the cheapest I've looked at and I can vouch for their efficiency
