Gas v Electric cooker??

personally i prefer a electric fan oven with ceramic hob top its easy to clean plus oven cooks joints meat alot faster than gas than gas ones ive had. perhaps gas is a bit cheaper to use but i still prefer electric.0

I would think gas is cheaper to run, seems very much personal opinion on which is better, I much prefer cooking with gas, always found electric ovens dry food out myself. Plus its almost instantly hot whereas I've personally found electric ovens take a while to warm up..Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

I have used both gas and electric and find no difference in performance.
Gas will be cheaper over all.
The actual difference in cost will depend on your tariffs.0 -
The gas is cheaper to run but costs extra to install (a qualified engineer must install where an electric hob can be installed by anyone competent enough to do so) and a little more in annual gas safety checks. Usually only £5 per year more if the engineer also checks the boiler. I prefer gas myself.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.0 -

No reason a gas hob cannot be installed by anyone competent enough to do so (so long as they are not charging. e.g. the OP could install it themself if they are competent )
Charges for a qualified electrician or qualified gas fitter are comparable, and the installation time is also very similar.
Annual gas safety checks are not required unless the property is being rented out.
I've never been charged more for a gas hob to be included on a CP12 that includes a gas boiler - there's nothing really to check (but then I've never used British Gas for this who I think wanted £79 extra  but couldn't explain what exactly would be done for £79)0
