Ebay Selling query - cancel bid??

Hey all - I've been using Ebay on and off for a ferw years and never had any trouble with it - Always been paid on time, or have always paid on time if I've been buying. Feedback fine etc
I only sell on free listings weekend and don't tend to have much up. In the past few months I've had a few odd transactions which I wont go into detail on, just that its made me more wary.
This week I have an item up. Starting price £4, and only postage option £6.50 (prefer buyer collect...) Last time i listed it it got a few watchers but no offers - thats fine...
Its now had an bid from someone who according to their profile, is in Australia (i've not offered international shipping) and has 0 feedback despite being a member since Dec 2006.
Should i contact the buyer explaining i wont ship to Oz or is there likely to be a scam here? Will that get me black-marked?
I find it so hard to navigate Ebay, its policies and systems that i welcome any thoughts from you experts!

Just send the buyer a message and give them time to respond.
If they don't respond you can cancel their bid.

You could your preferences to block buyers in countries you don't ship to - go to your Account preferences, find Buyer Management and follow onscreen instructions.
Feedback won't be relevant - new people join every day, I don't have any prejudice against low feedback buyers.
They are perhaps simply interested in the item; if it is uneconomic to ship abroad then politely tell them that. It might help to revise the item and put on it clearly that you will not ship abroad to prevent any further misunderstanding, if you have not said that already (some people take an absence of anything obvious as a sign that the seller might be open to persuasion - which will be entirely genuine).
I wouldn't approach any bidder as if they were a scammer; most people just want to buy an item so don't leap to conclusions in any message or give them cause to be upset with you."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thanks Both, I am maybe being a bit paranoid, as the last person I had problems with had an old registration (2006), but 0 feedback.
I really do think thats quite coincidence!
I've honestly never had any problems before recently, and tend to think the best of people (which was probably the issue last time), so its good to get your feedback.
I'll send a message about postage and see what happens next!

You need to set your selling preferences to not allow places you dont post to.
