Banks or credit card companies are not allowed to call after 9pm and not before 8am.

I'm not vulnerable at midnight if somone rings me up - I'm dammned annoyed! Glad it turned out OK in the end and thanks for sharing even if this all sounds a bit naive by the standards of MSE . Lesson is give nothing out over unsolicited phone calls... in time you'll become as cyncial, suspcious and as distrusting as me.

They can use the information to create a fake "card" with a magnetic stripe which contains all the required information to fool a cash machine (here or somewhere in the world where cards don't have chips).

I understand one can be created with a breakfast cereal packet and some video tape:eek:
