in Credit cards
Hi,
I used the experian online credit report and got a screen saying they couldn't process my application. But my Credit card is debited. Does that mean I paid £2.00 to find out they can't process my application. I feel like an idiot.

Sorry there has been a problem
Unfortunately, we could not process your application for a credit report because we were unable to fully confirm your identity based upon the information available to us.
In order for your application to proceed, you need to write to the address below enclosing a copy of either a current passport or driving licence in your name together with two other original documents connecting you to your present address (eg. bank statement, mortgage statement, council tax bill, solicitor's letter, or recent utility bill in your name) these must be dated within the last three months. Please quote your reference number nnnnnnn when you write to us.
Your card has been debited.

i would imagine that when you send them the relevent details, they will fulfill your request. You wouldn't have to pay againliving on the "edge"0

I think that they are taking the issue rather far, and I am not sure legally how much ID you need to provide. I had the same issue at one point, I gave my name, date of birth and previous addresses and they sent the file. The refused point blank to send it without my DOB. You can call them for free on 08006569000. I think it is option 5, give them your reference and ask them what has happened. James0

Just send them the documents and you'll get your credit report. They're being cautious and rightfully so.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

I've had the same problem recently.
The official line from Experian is that they've tightened up on their procedures, meaning 80% of requests for £2 credit reports are being denied until the additional information is forwarded to them.
However, my own opinion is that they've had a system glitch. Why? Because I have sent for my £2 report 3/4 times per year for the last 2 years and never had a problem until last week when they informed me they were unable to "fully confirm your identity based upon the information available to us". Now the information they hold on me is exactly the same as they had from my previous requests (same address last 14 years etc) so how are they having trouble?
There is a way out though if, like me, you've previously had a report from them and you've not moved address recently. Telephone Experian and tell them you want to register a formal complaint. Someone will ring you back, take you through a series of security questions, and manually organise the sending of your report.
NB: Don't be fobbed off by the CSA when they say that the system cannot be overridden - it can!0
