Replace Lead Flashing on Roof

Hi,
Spotted a leak coming into the bedroom window, it's a bay window, leaking from the roof.
Roofer came around and had a look, the lead flashing (apex roof above the bay) has a crack in it and needs replacing.
He gave a rough estimate of about £300 depending on the cost of the lead which he can confirm tomorrow. Reckons it's a day's work for two men, I find that a little hard to believe but I am not a roofer.
1. How does the lead flashing get a crack in it?
2. Does the price seem reasonable?
3. I assume he'll take the lead away to sell, is it worth negotiating the price on that?
The flashing is about 9 inches wide, probably about 8 feet long at a guess.
Really cannot afford this at this time of year especially!

is it flat on top of your bay window or tiled ? what i mean is it the flashing thats leaking or if it's flat is this sealed by lead, pics would be helpful, yes lead can crack, if it's only that amount prob not worth alot, 2 days work does seem abit too much but atm we really don't know what he's replacingI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Try flashband, I used it for a similar job and it works fine. Its only £10 or so.0

It's an apex roof so the flashing forms a gulley between the bay window apex and the normal part of the roof also an apex.
