Hmmm....not much detail but I presume this is intended for PPC car parks as Council ones are already statute regulated.

Probably a good thing if it ever happens because it is another pitfall for the PPCs but it won't make the tickets any more enforceable !

  • It'll never get anywhere. 10 minute rule bills rarely do. Especially as it won't get any official government support, as they've already stated that they don't intend to change anything relating to private car parking.

    Except that Government clearly had it at the back of their minds as maybe necessary as there is provision in the POFA for regulation to be made by way of Statutory instrument :-

    Schedule 4 Section 12 :-

    (2)The appropriate national authority may by regulations made by statutory instrument prescribe requirements as to the display of notices on relevant land where parking charges may be incurred in respect of the parking of vehicles on the land.

    (3)The provision made under sub-paragraph (2) may, in particular, include provision—

    (a)requiring notices of more than one kind to be displayed on any relevant land;

    (b)as to the content or form of any notices required to be displayed; and

    (c)as to the location of any notices required to be displayed.

    (4)Regulations under this paragraph may—

    (a)include incidental, supplementary, transitional, transitory or saving provision;

    (b)make different provision for different areas or purposes.
  • I presume that Excel are not a good role model as far as signs are concerned. Mind you, having seen metoer signboards at a rail station they run a close second.
    I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
