  • Small "Trial" pots of paints are available in all shades for around £1 each. You could try to match. Lets face it, a tub of white emulsion costs £15 or so, its not such a big deal.

As for repairs not being done, if the LL has any degree of fairness, IMO he would accept the scuffs as fair exchange for his shortcomings, I am a LL and I would.

That's good. But given that your LL has his shortcomings before you do this bit :
please respond to this from my previous post

There was an inventory and pics done, there are some of a couple of scratches on the wall in the 3rd bedroom but they are just of light fittings and plug points really
What about weekends, and Tues, Thur and Fri at 6-9pm?

If you damage the walls you must make good or pay for repair. Simples. If the paint has discoloured only slightly then set aside some of your paint and put a tiny dollop of marmite in it, then you have 'discoloured' paint that will match.

There are two white paints in circulation: White and Brilliant White, it sounds as if it's painted by the former.

I hand back the keys at 2pm Thursday, so have tonight 6-9

I will try and get hold of some other white paint. The paint was fine till the removers decided to scuff the wall! So annoying

Are you serious about putting marmite in paint lol. The walls aren't that discoloured, that sounds like it will make a fag stained colour

That's what I have been buying are the little pots, but the whites I buy are too white for the wall as over time the wall has faded a bit
  • You want those "magic" white blocks that you dampen very slightly then lightly rub over the scuff mark like an eraser. They remove the scuff completely.

    JML magic eraser.
Try on an inconspicuous area first, as it may leave the wall cleaner there :D
Only dampen, don't get it wet or the drip will be clean drips too.

Don't use sugar soap unless you plan on washing all the walls.
Don't paint it back to new white. It will be more obvious, and scuffs need several coats to cover.

What on earth had you slopped down the radiators - sounds rank. Get yourself over to the cleaning kings and queens on the Old Stye Board.;)

    Haha ;)

Was more of a 'heat' type mark! Accidentally managed to do it on the wallpaper from candles/tealights before too (they were on a metal fireplace top, the wallpaper was behind. Rubbed it and OMG what a mess! Wiped it with a flash wipe eventually and that cleaned it completely. Didn't want to suggest that to the OP in case it doesn't work!

  • I have to finish work early today as I have physio, torn the ligaments in my knee :( oww!! So not that mobile either, so I will pop to wilkinsons, think I saw those jml things in there. I will see how that does, fingers crossed it works. I will feel so bad if the walls are a mess when I hand back the keys thursday
  • The jml magic scrubbers are wonderful things! The walls are like brand new :D thanks for the suggestion

For any other T who has these sorts of marks to deal with, *before* trying to paint over them you could try gently removing them with one of those white eraser sponges or with some Astonish cookware paste. Try on an inconspicuous corner first and do not rub too hard. Sugar soap should also work but you'd have to wash down the whole wall.
Glad someone knew what the sponges were actually called ( the name eluded me, despite having personally used them to clean a boat  ) and that you've managed to get a good result OP. Good luck with the check out.

aren't they! I wouldn't be without one now! They also get rid of the marks on laminate flooring that nothing else seems to be able to remove. So glad it worked.
