It's a good question? Where did all that silver go since the war? Decades ago world stockpiles of silver were very high, now its all been consumed in electronics and medical uses ec cetera.
What they are all saying is since the nuke disaster in Japan, the East is wanting to go mega solar power China, India and Japan and you need lots of silver to make all those solar panels. But there is not enough silver left above ground or in the ground its almost all been depleted. The answer is the price has to go up a long long way to get those silver investors to start selling. But the big fish like the billionaires Eric Sprot and Jim Rogers say they will not sell their silver bullion for fiat currency.
Oh dear. You can't explain why silver is required in a concentrated solar power station?0 -

What are you on about now? A concentrated solar power station?
Yes silver is the most reflective element on the periodic table along with it being the most electrically conductive element known to man. It also has thermically conductive properties that I am not sure but I think also uis the best element for this too.
So there is no replacment for silver, copper or gold are next best but solar panels made without silver are not very efficient.0 -

I can't imagine that solar panels are going to be a major source of energy in Northern Europe. They're brilliant in places like Perth, WA but in Perth, Perthshire they aren't likely to work so well. Delivering them probably uses as much energy as they generate in the first couple of years of use!
The problem you have with silver as an investment is that it doesn't give you an income. That means that when you get it wrong, as we all do from time-to-time, you have nothing to offset you losses against.
Anyone that puts all their investment into a single asset class is being brave, to be charitable. More realistically they are foolhardy or simply foolish. That's the same for equity investors, BTLers, cash savings people and all other mono-holders. At some point you will be rogered vigorously by Mr Market.0 -

No solar panels required with CSP:

Large scale power generation is more likely to come from this method.0 -

No, but I'm sure Max Keiser and Alex Jones will be all over it.0
