Doors,timber still growing?

Is it only me or am I the one getting poorly made doors.I know manufacturers do everything possible to save money in production but the timber now used is poor. On an exterior door just fitted which I had to trim slightly to fit, there were two large knots in the base rail, one right through the top rail and even one running right through the cut out required for the letter box. On the five interior doors the battens on base, side and top, are just full of knots and joins and seem to be getting thinner each time I buy them.As a retired carpet fitter I got used to replacing the bottom rail due to easing for carpet and underlay and I would have thought by now the manufacturers would have allowed a thicker one.I would like to get the makers out to try easing their doors and getting a nice smooth finish, virtually impossible with the grain altering with the selection of knots and joins.

External door timing helps to seal off the edges of the doorway from the elements and it provides visual continuity between the doorway and the rest of the exterior. The main process of measuring, cutting and installing the door trim is same as of window trim.0
