I pre ordered dvd brave along with other items. on day of release amazon are selling it for £3.01 cheaper. Have'nt yet received items but they have told me hard luck. I thought you got best price pre ordering but not with amazon. Surely you should get it at the price they are selling it on the day your card is credited and items dispatched? Other companys do. very annoyed and think i will return this plus the other 4 items and the pre ordered ice age 4. used their live chat but very unfriendly. hate when your angry and they finish off with - thank you for shopping with amazon hope to see you again soon.... not likely

Should be in the rant section.0

I would expect to pay the price agreed on when I pre ordered.
What a lot of shops do is buy in the stock depending on demand, they possibly bought x number of copies and had to pay a certain price per copy, they put these up for pre order. As release date is looming they buy in more copies to fulfil non pre ordered orders on or after the release date. If their cost price has dropped in this time then they pass the saving on to the customer.
Pre ordering isn't a way of buying cheaper but a way of guaranteeing stock as close to the release date as possible. Most new releases have different bundles and offers on in the first few weeks so it's usually worth holding on and shopping around. You can't really do that before the release date as not everywhere publishes prices in advance.
You will be covered by DSR so as long as the cellophane is in tact you could inform them of your intention to cancel within seven days of receiving the item for a refund and then buy another copy cheaper. You may have to pay return postage though.0 -
If you ordered prior to the day of release they should honour the reduced price, check what you have been invoiced for.

Pre-ordering
Amazon.co.uk often offers items for sale before release. If an item hasn't been released yet you'll be able to see the expected release date on the item's Product Detail page.
You can place an order for one of these items in the same way as you'd order anything else. We won't charge your credit or debit card until we dispatch the order.
To find out the estimated delivery date, click the Your Account link in the top right-hand corner of any page, then click "Your Orders". On the next page you'll see a summary of your order with a dispatch estimate next to each item.
To learn more about how we estimate delivery dates, read the Estimated Delivery Dates information.
If you place an order that contains both pre-order and currently-available items, you won't receive the order until all the items are ready, unless you choose the "Dispatch as items become available" option in the order form. You'll need to pay a charge for each additional delivery, but we'll try to get the items to you in as few deliveries as possible. The Availability Guide gives more information on the different availabilities posted on the product detail page, including pre-orders.
For items with a future release date, the Amazon.co.uk price may change between the time of order and the date the item is dispatched. We don't charge you until we dispatch an item; therefore, when you pre-order selected books, CDs, videos, DVDs, pieces of software or video games, you'll be charged the lowest price offered by Amazon.co.uk between the time the order was placed and the item's release date.
If the price is lowered on the release date and your order has already been dispatched, we'll automatically refund the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price. Pre-order Price Guarantee only applies to items displaying the Pre-order Price Guarantee offer on the product detail page. Terms and Conditions apply.
Pre-order Price Guarantee doesn't apply in the case of mispricing, described here.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

They do refund you.....Greetings from Amazon.co.uk.
You saved £0.47 with Amazon.co.uk's Pre-order Price Guarantee!
The price of the item(s) decreased after you ordered them, and we gave you the lowest price.
The following title(s) decreased in price:
DNA: The Deluxe Edition
Price on order date: £11.99
Price charged at dispatch: £11.99
Lowest price up to and including release date: £11.52
Amount to be refunded: £0.47
Quantity: 1
Total Savings: £0.47
£0.47 is your total savings under our Pre-order Price Guarantee.
Because we reduced the price of your pre-release title between dispatch (when we charged you) and the release date, you will automatically receive a refund for £0.47. You will receive an additional e-mail when this refund is processed.
Dont get the rant at all givin its so clear of their policy.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
You must have received an ignorant customer service rep. It is Amazon's policy to automatically refund any difference in price right up to the end of the release day. The refund would have been forthcoming anyway, whether you contacted or not. This is everybody's fault but mine.0

its not automatic only if order is marked pre order guarantee. the reason for the rant as i stated was that i contacted live chat at amazon. agent checked account said i was not entitled to refund. i then asked how i escalated the enquiry and was then informed they would pass to relevant dept who would invesltigbut that they did not pass their findings. i ased why bother investigating if no feedback given. i was then given a link to attach a letter. instead i emailed from a link which was sent for feedback on the customer service received. it was after this email i received a response which advised of refund. seemed a long route when it should have been dealt with byhe first point of contact. hope this answers your question. you can only tell your order has pre order guarantee at checkout. i didn't know if it applied to my order. thats why i asked and was told no.0

It tells you in bold under the price on the product page when you actually pre order. Have you definitely pre ordered from Amazon as opposed to a Marketplace seller? What did you buy?0

yes superhan. pre ordered Brave from Amazon. after order dispatched it does not show if it was a price guarantee order. i assumed i would receive refund but as the full price was debited from my card i thought i would query. i was given the wrong info but i have now been told after emailing again i will get refund. i have other items on pre order and i can see some have the guarantee so at least i know now. just saying it did not happen automatcally and i was given wrong info by 'advisor'0

IIRC amazon usually do the pre-order price guarantee refunds a few days later, I suspect they don't set the final price until the day of release (when they may match other retailers), by which time many orders will have shipped.
Hence they'll normally refund a few days later, in my experience normally I'll get an email 2-3 days later saying "we've refunded..." (for example I ordered My Neighbour Totoro on Blu a few months back, it shipped around Saturday the 10th for a release on the 12th, and I got the pre-order saving message on the 14th).0
