See an IFA.
Do it quickly. You have less than a month before gender-neutral pricing starts.I am a mortgage broker. There are no deals as such, insurance is based on risk.
It would be worth speaking to an advisor though, as Kingstreet says you only have maybe 3 weeks before the price changes come into place.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. On insurance the IFA can work on commission basis or fee basis. For small premiums commission will be better value for you. For larger ones, fee will be better value.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. thanks!
is a one-off meeting with the financial advisor likely to cost under £100? as my hubby is very sceptical as he is worried IFAs are working on commission etc, so he doesn't trust them. is that true?

First meeting is usually free. This is when the factfind is done to findout what you want/need.
At that point they will discuss how they receive their pay - it might be a fee, it might be commission or you may have the choice.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. to be honest, i'd love a general discussion with the IFA about our finances etc as a family but i bet this would cost a huge amount0
