Considering a flat with an electric boiler

Initially I thought the heating was gas central because the radiators are similar to gas radiators. When I had a look at the boiler I saw it was an Aztec eletric boiler made by Trianco. A 5 minute google search says it is "99.8%" efficient. It seems it is connected to a "duplex unvented cylinder" which leads me to believe you need to turn the boiler on and wait for a few minutes for the water to heat up before you take a shower.
How does such a heating system work? And how much more expensive is it be compared to gas?

The Aztec boiler is just a little electric heater which heats the water which goes round the radiators. The hot water will be heated by an ordinary immersion heater.
About 3 x the price of gas central heating to run.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
They used to be called 'electric boilers' when they were made by Amptec who were sued to heck by people who bought them over [I believe] lies and exaggerations about ' ' running costs ' ' resulting in the company going into liquidation. The answer to your question
.1. They use electricity to heat water, the water is then fed from a pump to wet radiators / bath / washing up / etc.
.2. Expensive, because its using electricity at today's [and rising rapidly] cost to do the job., In addition you have £xxx a year servicing costs because its a wet system, even though its an electric wet system
The answer to cost depends on whether you want wet heating only or wet heating and hot water and what size dwelling you have determines what size system you need. Asa a quick [unresearched guesstimate] I agree with Owain Moneysaver, at twice E7 and three times gas.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
