Hi, new to the forums and been reading many threads with interest.
A very long story which I will post a thread for soon but just a quick question if I may??
If my OH sets ups a standing order for a token amount just while we fight with them over what they say he owes would this stop them from being able to set up a DEO?
Probably not, no. Are you disputing the assessment or arrears? I would probably recommend paying the assessment plus something towards the arrears, but even then if you're not paying what they want, by the dates they've set, then they can probably put a DEO on the case.0 -

"and if the payment is even slightly under what the system expects then the case will automatically flip to debt enforcement."
surely if you set up payment for the liability and then some extra for arrears what possible enforcement action could they take because you are paying the arrears.
I personally have less than £500 hundred pounds arrears but if i set up a SO for the liability + some money for the arrears surely it would be more hassle than it is worth to try and enforce you to pay more on arrears i dont own my own home have no assets my partner owns everything in the home with receipts to prove and i only have assessable income of £60 per week CTC.
I don't drive, they can have my passport i cant afford to travel and its nearly out of date.
Prison is counter productive (you cant pay whilst you are behind bars)
My point is rightly or wrongly surely it is better for the CSA to except the liability + plus some money for arrears then spend time trying to enforce more?
Ok i accept there may be need for more aggressive tactics for people who have amassed thousands and thousands of pounds in arrears but surely not for anything under a £1000?.
Of course this is just MY OPINION what do you think?.0 -
And to be honest i try not to think to hard about arrears because its almost a certainty for everybody that when there liability ends they WILL be in some arrears.
The CSA seem to pluck figures out thin air they know more magic tricks then mathew corbert and sooty and sweep lol.0 -
Can I pay weekly by standing order or does it have to be direct debit?0
