Formal Notice from PPS, despite paying!!

Hi folks
I'm new to this forum but thought I'd share something with you as I too have been a victim of PPS. My girlfriend & I received a PCN for parking in Exeter one night. I paid the £60 fine by cheque within 2 weeks, and checked my bank account too to make sure the cheque had gone through (since reading this forum, I now realise I shouldn't have paid but there you go!).
Despite paying up, I today received a Formal Notice from PPS stating that the PCN had not been paid, the "discount period" had now run out & that I now owe them £100!! Needless to say I'm fuming but after reading the plethora of info on this forum, I feel much better knowing that so many people have been in this position before!
The gall of it - if I hadn't paid then I wouldn't be surprised to get a Final Notice but after having cashed my cheque, I'm bloody furious!
Anyone else had this happen to them?

from what ive heard and seen this is a common tactic, another one is that some one pays up, and somehow misses the early payment window.
Are you still getting letters demanding payment?
and in whos car park were you parked, was this a supermarket, or any other single retailer? or was this a multiple retailer retail park, or a standalone car park?
If you feel your being harrased you could put a claim in for harrasment against the car park owner, although in order for that to work you will first have to tell them ( the car park owner and the PPC) to stop sending these letters, as you consider it to be harrasment.
the next step would be to issue a claim for harrasmentagainst the car park owner - as they are responsable for the actions of their agents, as well as the private parking company. From the Plain Language Commission:

Doolalley (aka Ian)then hiss yourself laughing at them opening it :rotfl:
PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0 -
And don't waste a stamp.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

... I paid the £60 fine by cheque within 2 weeks ...
Wayne: "Look here Gary, some mug's only gone and paid us!"
Gary: "Blimey, and we didn't have to write to him either - where's the black book?"
Wayne: "Oh, you mean the one with 'Gullible Mugs' on the front - here it is"
Gary: "Right, let's put him in there. Now, how much more do you think we can get him to cough up?"
Wayne: "Oh I reckon he should be good for £100, he paid the first £60 sharp enough"
Gary: "OK, we'll get Tracey to print off a letter when she comes in, she knows how to work the computer."

Hilarious! Nice replies folks, really cheered me up! For info, the (ahem) "fine" was incurred in Bear Street, Exeter, right outside Exeter Cathedral (how ironic - not even the power of God himself could save me from this lot!!!)
The girlfriend & I were going out to an "eat as much as you like for £6" chinese restaurant. How sad that the cheapest meal in Exeter turned out to cost us £72 in the end!!!0
