Santander Overdraft charges

Hi everyone any thanks for any guidance in advance.
My wife and I have 3 current accounts with Santander (originally Alliance and Leicester) one each and a joint.
My wife was made redundant so she stopped using her current account as nothing was going in it. The other day we got a letter saying that there was £108 owing on her account and could she pay some in.
Obviously this was a bit of a surprise and when she phoned up to find out what was going on it appears that she forgot that her paypal account was linked to her current account and when she used it, it took funds from her current account (less than £10 not sure of exact amount). This then put her overdrawn which incurred £1 a day (£20 month) overdraft fee and £5 a month under funding fee. Unknown to us this was for a few months now (She forgot her internet banking logon details as she only looks at the joint).
We are therefore now stuck in that if we don't pay it all off now it will go up by another £25.
I know £108 isn't a lot compared to some I've read but we have used all our savings/redundancy to keep the joint topped up since she was made redundant, and that would wipe us out.
The bank wont give us a good will as they did that a couple of years ago.
Am I right in thinking we have no claim as these are not charges but an authorised overdraft fee. It seems extortionate that a an overdraft can increase tenfold like that.
We would ditch Santander if we could but we have a £1900 overdraft which we are up to every month.
thanks

Santander will reverse/refund one month charges as long as you haven't had any reversed/refunded since November last year.
I suggest you go into a branch and discuss what they can help you with as a goodwill.0
