Wood Burning Stove and Tiles?

Hi all,

We would like to put a wood burning stove in our lounge fireplace, but cannot afford to at the moment.

The fireplace was all perfect when we moved in, except there are no tiles at the bottom. It is just ugly concrete.

So my question is...Can I just get it tiled now, or when I get the wood burning stove will they have to be re done and smashed up? ie Does the wood burning stove just sit on top of the tiles?

Yes you can it will just sit on top of the tiles

Not quite as simple as just putting a few tiles down, you will need to comply with Part J building regs which specifies that hearths should be at least 12mm thick and extend to at least 500mm from the front of a solid fuelled appliance.

Slate or solid stone slabs are ideal
