Eating at Butlins Skegness

We are going up to skegness in a couple of weeks. My husband insisted i rang and upgraded our accommodation, which i did they then offered my the dinning plan for an extra £120 for the 3 days we are there. It is myself, my husband and our two children aged 10 and 11 going.

The question is is it worth it to add the dining package??
Any opions please.

i wouldnt, if theres a morrissons nearby, they offer the scheme where adults pay, an childrens meals are free, theyre very generous portions too, an kids get drinks, we used morrissons when we went to butlins at minehead from 4pm, even breakfasts are cheap an great portions, break down the cost ud be payin at butlins, 3 days, for effectively breakfast, and tea a day, on the first day youd just get one meal, sounds very expensive to me :) forgot to say, the morrissons meal deal is buy for £8 and kids are free :)
  • my local morrisons kids eat free deals are mon-fri only so no good if going for the weekend if its sthe same in skeggy

£10 per person per day sounds reasonable to me for unlimited food and drinks as far as im aware you keep getting food until you are full.

I guess it also depends what you are planning to do, if you want to not touch the car and stay on site all the time then its worth doing, if you dont mind driving 10mins to Morrisons and 10 mins back twice a day then it may be a bit cheaper but i don't think there will be that much in it to be honest

Are you going for 3 nights? You will get dinner on the first night, there is a few things to choose from, a roast meat, a pasta dish, a curry type dish and a veggie option. There is also a kids selection with fish fingers, sausages etc but they can choose from the main meals as well. There is soup/salad to start and a choice of three desserts and an ice cream station. Drinks are included but it is diluting juice or water and tea/coffee/hot choc. However they may still be doing an offer on slush drinks, you buy a slush drink in the half yard cup thing for £3.95 (i think) but you get free refills with your dinner every time you are there and as many times as you like while you are there, you cannot get refills in the entertainment bars though.

The breakfast has everything you want, cereal, croissants, toast, cooked items, porridge, fruit etc. Both meal options are eat as much as you like. We didn't need lunch, maybe a coffee in the afternoon or an ice cream (we went in summer).

The dining plan is ideal if you want to get the most out of the Butlins holiday and not have to cook/do dishes but it does mean you are tied to the set mealtimes.
  • Go with Butlins food - it's really worth it. Loads of choices and variety. We go for the standard dining and have never had any problems.
