i need a 30m extension lead for running out to the cars, for cleaning and also for a trickle charger i have for one of them that doesnt get used much (will only be on it during the day, not continually).
What cable would be best? Ive been told 2.5mm 3 core TRS (tough rubber sheath), but another guy i know said 1.5mm TRS would be fine because of the small current being drawn.
Any advice please guys?

No real need for TRS, personally I would go for 2.5mm artic grade flex - artic grade flex as it remains flexable at cooler temperatures, and the 2.5mm because of the length of run.
I would also put an RCD plug on it to protect the whole lead.
Remember to fully run out ALL the cable when its in use, coiled cables get very hot and can catch fire. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Depends what you're running off it. If it's a hoover or a reasonably sized jet wash then that'll use a fair bit of power (should say how many Watts or at least how many amps (multiply by 250*) it nees on the appliance.
Waits for someone to say "well actually, I'll think you'll find the UK mains supply is nearer 230V".... it's called erring on the safe side when approximating.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Why not just buy one like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Cable-Drum-30m-4-Socket-13A-Mains-Extension-Drum-Reel-Coil-FREE-Delivery-/290817061511?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Cables_Leads_Connectors&hash=item43b60c3287
Surely it'll cost you more to buy the cable and bits etc?

As above, just buy one from a shop.
Making it yourself will be more expensive, take a lot longer, then there is the issue of not having a reel to put it on, no thermal cutout, not being able to test it once assembled, etc.
Here's another one: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/d190/sd2470/p49112
50m, arctic cable as well. Under £40 including delivery.0
