Lifitng a manhole cover

Thanks for looking.

I have a recessed manhole cover with block paving in it on my drive, and i wish to lift it.

Any ideas where to get the devices to lift it with please

Hi,

I would think that one of your local builders or plumbers would hire or even loan a lifting tool, or try your local council.

Here's a site might be a help, though I don't see much point in buying one to use it once or twice.

Do you have a tool hiring firm near you?

You need a pair of Lifting or Manhole Keys. Try Builders Merchants or Plumbers Merchants, Screwfix, Toolstation and the like.

you need to pull the plastic handles up on each side (2 sides - shortest of rectangle) - a flathead screwdriver is best for this

you then need two strong blokes to hold it at each end and pull

Just do a search on 'manhole' on EBay. Under £6 including P&P.
