Another Argos moan

To cut a long story short, i popped into Argos today tio get my niece a bracelet. found some on page 54, (using instore catalogue at order station) even better all BOGOF.
Except they aren't, they are now buy 2 get 3rd free. I still got it as as soon as i saw the one i knew my niece would love it, so i haven't really lost out, it just irked me a little.
Manager just said so long as we tell you at the till there is nothing you can do, after i'd enquired why it came to £19.98, instead of £9.99. My reply was but you didn't tell me at the till until i asked! He didn't like that much, but a fair point i thought! :rotfl:
Just looked in my catalogue at home and the whole page is BOGOF.
So now my niece might think she has a very stingy Aunt, who's kept one for herself. :rotfl:
Ooooh, feel much better for that moan.

The catalogues are printed several months potentially before you're ready to order something - you cannot blame them for not running the same promotion now. It will have a disclaimer somewhere in the catalogue (most likely at the back with all the small print) which says "offers are subject to change".
Otherwise Argos could also get away with still charging you full price for something that would be reduced if they printed full new catalogues every week.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

My bold, is the bit, I think, that wound up the OP, a better reply from Argos should have been, 'oh, you do know that these aren't BOGOF any more despite what the catalogue says'0 -

So you'd accept it if they charged you more for an item, than it was priced at in the catalogue?????????
No, i think not.
Not saying they were in the wrong, though why bother putting it in the catalogue knowing it will change, they could of just put it in one of there promo/sale leaflets for a set amount of time. Leaving it "normal" in big catalogue.
It was more the fact they hadn't told me about it, till i queried the price, I'd rather they had said do you realise the offer on these have changed? before ringing it in. Or just put stickers on the in-store catalogues saying of said change. As that is where i saw the offer.
As i said, still purchased the one, as i know niece will love it, Just a little "vent" to clear my system. :rotfl::lovethoug0 -

No I wouldn't - I too would have informed him that he SHOULD have informed me of the change at the point it was initially communicated to the staff member. That's where he's screwed up and I do understand the frustration in that, I was simply pointing out the obvious fact - even over stickering the catalogues must cost a bit though! My local argos' both have about 30 catalogues and there's got to be what 700+ stores with many much larger than the two here!
For what it's worth, I'm with you (and I've had my own much more severe frustrations with Argos in the past) but it wasn't intended to mean "oh well, that's just the way it is" only pointing out the fact.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0
