Laptop for A Levels/University

Hoping for bit of help. Is our sons 16th Birthday soon and we're looking to by a laptop for his use, going on to take A levels next year and uni (fingers crossed) after that. He has shown interest in this:-

    Unless the course requires a machine with intensive graphics capability, then just about ANY laptop will suffice for A-levels/university. All it needs to do is run a web browser and some form of Office-type software (word processor, spreadsheet etc.)

    This Office-type software does NOT have to be Microsoft Office. LibreOffice or similar will likely work fine.

    That's a long way of saying - the laptop you've referenced is more than enough. :)

    For security there's no reason why Avast cannot be used on the laptop - I use it on all the family's computers.

    For the tablet - what are you looking for? http://www.ebuyer.com/392404-sumvision-titan-tablet-pc-titan-9 might do the job.
  • Thank you, really appreciated. DD is 13, so mainly used for facebook, you tube, twitter, reading and the like, the one mentioned looks a real possibility. I shall mooch at the reviews later.
