iphone dropped down the loo - any ideas?

Hi All

OH managed to drop his iphone down the loo last week. We have tried burying it in rice for 2 days then stashing it in the airing cupboard for about 3 days but still no joy.

Has anyone got any bright ideas? Or is it now beyond hope?

On a more helpful note, do you have accidental damage insurance?

Dry rice or a tin of Ambrosia. Sorry, couldnt resist.

When you put it in the rice, had you taken it to peices.

If not, take it to peices and try again.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I read somewhere that you are supposed to rinse it under clean water first to try remove any impurities before it dries? Or was that a load of rubbish I read?

You can't really take them to pieces.
I'd put it back in the rice in the airing cupboard for at least another week to make sure it's dry before doing anything with it.

There are independent places that will repair water damaged phones for around £65 (well that's what my local one charges). Phones are so precision and delicate now that even a small floater could be shorting a couple of tracks, or the battery may have died altogether as you can't take the battery out of an iPhone to dry it all out properly.

If you're near Bath, PM me for the number of a local place
