I was going to do a back up copy of my desktop onto my netbook, I was thinking of just using a male to male USB to USB cable.......I went on ebay to buy one and asked the seller if it would be suitable for that and they said no it could cause a fire!?!?
Oh heck :eek:
So can any of you Techie folk please advise me on the correct type of cable to use for this?
Thanks!

You can use a USB to USB cable, but it needs to be a specific type , look for the word "bridged" or "bridge data link"... like this
You could also use a "crossover" network cable in the same way, or if they are both on the same home network, set them up so that they can see each other and just transfer files over the network.
If you are not comfortable doing the above, by far the easiest way is to copy the files you want to a USB memory stick or DVD and use that to move stuff from one machine to the other.0 -
Does the Netbook have WiFi?
Can you swap over the local network?0 -
network them, or use a usb flash or external hard disk to transfer the data!!

Thanks you all for your replies!
You have made me re-think it! I currently do a backup onto an external HDD (as suggested by Closed a long time ago...:)
)
In hindsight I have over complicated it and was barking up the wrong tree!?!?...:o....now realise that it would probably be easier to just copy the back-up file created in Maxblast from the EXHDD to my netbook if I install Maxblast on it then I could just access the data on there if needed. I was thinking it might be safer to have it on the netbook too as well as the EXHDD in case that failed."Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's
