Just discovered this thread, can't believe a haven't found it before. I love Kipling bags and was so annoyed when I found out kipling discontinued the new raisin bag. Thank goodness for eb*y. I got another raisin bag last week, my third raisin and my 8th Kipling bag.
Now so tempted to buy the largest alvar with the 2 zip pockets at the top. Might have to sell a couple of my Kiplings to justify another one so soon. Any thoughts on the Alvar, good or bad would be very much appreciated.

I love the Alvar, and have 4 of the largest one, and x 1 XS one. I find that the large Alvar's are like tardis, and fit loads in without becoming a bulky bag, they still sit flat against the body. I do like the XS one but it is very small, and I can only fit a purse, phone and keys into it and not much else.

Yes I too love the Alvar - vewry sleek but will take a lot.

Large Alvar really spacious and light.

The small one is very compact and only for the bare minimum of things. They also do a nice middle size one who is called duo as it comes with a purse.

CT19720 Thankyou, that is very helpful, a tardis is just what I need. The fact that the bag still sits flat is the one advantage over the raisin.
I wish I had seen the alvar before I went and bought the raisin last week. I would have put the money towards the alvar instead. I will keep my fingers crossed for an amazon deal. I am afraid that patience is not a virtue I have.

7roland8 Thankyou for your reply. The duo sounds nice but I don't know if it would be big enough. I need it to take my kindle ebook in its case.
The 2 zipped top compartments are what I like about the alvar as I can keep my gadgets separate from my purse. Is it only the large alvar that has 2 separate top zipped compartments?

I am also an Alvar fan it was my favourite but I ordered a Defea last month and now the Defea is my favourite lol

Thankyou tweets. I have looked at the defea but I don't like the handles on the Fairfax, eldest daughter is using it and loves it, so I don't think I will like the defea for the same reason. Opinions please regarding the alvar, port red or heather olive
Can I also ask are the print bags made of the same material as the plain basic bags. ( I want monkey mania but can't justify the extra
