Hi Max - yes can see what you mean but I like the bright colours and doing lots of shopping form home I find at least with Kipling I know what I am getting - and its the fun of the chase of course looking for bargains!!
Jelly - that bag looks super - especially the pink one!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
I think I got all excited about Kipling for no reason...I may just sell my Rachele soon. It's ok, but I don't really see what all the hype is about if I'm honest. It's a lovely bag, lovely colour - but I've had much better. It's very very casual, which I suppose is my gripe with it, nothing "special".
I suppose we're all different, aren't we? I have to admit I'm addicted, though! I've spent decades using cheaper bags that have only lasted a few months, and haven't had the organisation I wanted. I used to watch QVC and wonder how anyone could spend that kind of money on a bag - but now I've tried them I don't think I'd ever go back. (I do prefer to buy them on offer though;))
Like 7roland8, I do love the chase and it's great to feel you're grabbing a bargain. I love the Fairfax and the Reth. I find it so useful to have separate pockets so I know where everything is.
EDIT Quick question - received a little card with my Amazon order which gives 30% off Javari, but it appears to be Javari.fr and it's all written in French (except for the code, which is English). Has anyone else had one of these cards? Does anyone know if the code will work on Javari UK, or if Javari.fr will post here?0 -
Hi all, just spent the morning looking at Kipling bags and just wondered if anyone had any of the bags below and which would be better for holding a DSLR + lens & water bottle (esentially looking for a holiday bag!)

Fairfax is lots of compartments so wouldn't hold 'big' items
Elise looks generous
But I personally still sing the Defea praisea veritable tardis

Hi Scaredy Cat - yes I had a French card this morning too - no idea if we can use it or not - will have to see I suppose??
Just tried it on Javari UK with an Alvar and it didn't work - looks like its only for a specific collection - not tried the French site though.
Had my Ketchup Fairfax this a.m. - not too bad a colour actually - as you say I like all the little pockets dotted around the sides.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Gwyne - small compartments in the Fairfax.
The Nagato is surprising large when I ordered one - think it would hold water and camera fine.
Not had an Elise but it looks quite roomy.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

We all have different opinions to make the world turn
I was like you when Kipling first came out (was a staunch Radley buyer) Used to thinknylon handbag
But like my fellow Kiplingites on this thread - I purchased my first from a QVC Outlet at a very cheap price. The first was a 'Breezer' & I was amazed at the lightness & the vast quantity of pockets
I have never liked the Monkeys - always removed & put away.
My next one was a Fairfax:D loved it but a bit small for my lunch & kitchen sink.
Then came the Defea :T:T:T:T
But I do like a leather handbag & when the Defea was brought out in leather I had to have one. But I've never used it as it is heavyOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...

Snap!!!! I got the Fairfax ketchup today, too! I wasn't going to bother as I bought a raspberry one on ebay a few months ago and thought it looked very similar - but then someone kindly posted that it was reduced and I couldn't resist!Side by side I think I prefer the raspberry as it has more of a pinky tone, but I really like the ketchup too - nice shade and not too bright.
I might email Amazon and enquire about the Javari code. Seems a bit mean to send us a code we can't use.0 -

I haven't got a Defea but I've looked at them in the shops. Plenty of room, should be fine.
The Fairfax comes in 2 sizes, the larger one would probably be big enough for a camera and a bottle, and still has the same pockets as the medium sized one.

The New Raisin looks roomy as well. The blue one here is down to £42

I bought the fairfax one in US last year to hold exactly what you are looking for. Didn't realise there was medium and a large one if I'm honest but it certainly holds my camera and a water bottle and lots of other things which I carried round Disney World in it last year. i loved the fact I could have it over my body or use the grab handles and could access things like hankies in some of the side pockets without having to open the main compartments0
