does anyone know what the egg timer symbol means on my ebay pages? I have sold an item, they have appeared to initiate a transaction through paypal, but it usually shows as a solid coloured £ sign to tell me they have paid.
Also I have now recieved an email to an old email account telling me to ' claim' my funds from paypal, clicking a link (which I havn't) to set up a paypal account. i am suspicious as I already have a paypal account set up so find this strange, can anyone offer advice?

Sounds like you put the wrong e-mail on the listing.
If you go onto the original listing and click relist (or something like that, not done it myself) then you can see what e-mail was used. I'm sure someone will give you better instructions than that!
The egg timer means payment pending (unclaimed) so the e-mail you got sounds legit.
Edit: Since you have access to the old e-mail account you can just add it to your existing paypal account

Therefore paypal transfers funds from the buyer's bank/cc account which takes time. In other words the transaction is in progress but not complete so you must wait until the egg-timer turns into a blue £ sign meaning funds have cleared and you may proceed to ship the item:D You will also get an email advising you to go ahead and ship from paypal.
The email with a link in it is an unrelated phishing scam - delete it forthwith.
No that is an echeque and will show clearly as such in OPs paypal account
As paypal account here is clear of any payment it is the wrong address scenario as already outlined.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thankyou for your replies I have sussed it now. as soolin quite rightly said it was an error in the listing where an old email address was used in error. I have now added it to my paypal account and the payment as come through now. The egg timer symbol is now a solid £ sign. Hope this is useful to someone else who may have the same problem, thanks again.0
