Utility Warehouse/ Telecom Plus warned by ASA yet again about misleading advertising.

You would think they would know better having been warned by ASA before on previous occassions,but they have been caught out yet again.

Its worth noting they did not comment specifically on any of the points of complaint or send the ASA any evidence to support their claims.

Their distributors will have you believe they dont advertise, yet they still distribute misleading leaflets.Their website also contains misleading info.

Do you think no other company has advertising that can be classed as misleading, I run an online shop and when I do searches to check competitors they frequently say they are the cheapest you can find yet you see cheaper straight away elsewhere. Utility Warehouse once claimed to be the cheapest gas and electricity supplier, now they don't, they say they will always be competetive against the big 6, which they are, British Gas droppped there prices twice, so did UWDC who were always cheaper than british gas who IMHO are the worst company to deal with for gas and electric. Whenever UWDC is mentioned there is a feeding frenzy here, why? they work for some, depends what you want I guess. I use them for a lot so it works well for me personally, british gas might work for others etc etc.

I dont have to defend anything to be honest. are you then saying if I dont use the same as you I can not be into money saving?? or if I was with BRITISH Gas I must sell for british gas? I just dont understand the feeding frenzy tbh, the only thing I would try and pitch online is my phone accessories store and I would defend that as it is mine and I will only defend myself. I have orange broadband atm, pretty good deal I got, I dont sell that either lol I also shop at iceland, great groceries store, if you shop at netto does that also mean im not into saving money?? I know what deal I got from my previous utilities supplier and I get better now, I also like having one bill. My calls are cheaper than they were with BT, I also choose not to like BT at all because of the way they treated me as a customer. All companies have good and bad points. UW are not bad for price in my OPINION and I use them for my 0800 number for my online store also.

I wonder how many people on here work for or sell for other utilitiy providers that state their opinion?

I would also never reccomend something I wouldn't use myself, the fact of the matter is because UWDC use a MLM style they are percieved as bad, everyones entitled to their opinion and the nature of an opinion means one can not be wrong. As it is the way something is percieved by ones self. Would you not agree?

They continue to claim this on their website to help sell their energy (of course it's not true):

For almost 5 years we provided our customers with the cheapest domestic energy in the UK.

my understanding is they once were the cheapest, tbh I am not here to plug anything except my site where i can and that is my own shop lol, just feel everyones entitles to their views without being slated for them

I presume the online store site you refer to is a Storeplus one which they give to every distributor to promote.

I have noticed that quite a lot of their distributors use their far from money saving 0800 service.

No My Store is my Mobile Phone Accessories Store, if you like I can send you the link via a message for you to check out, the store was setup by myself and the business is ran by myself, it is nothing to do with anybody else solely myself. As you would see on MY site, I do have an 0800 number lol. I am not here selling UW if anything I would take any opportunity to promote my own site which is not storeplus and has no linkings to anything to do with UW. My mobile accessories are reasonably priced though, I check against others constantly and do my best to ensure good service and good prices. My store is still in the process of being setup so not all the products are there. I will not put anything here as it would be SPAM I guess.

Why did you resurrect this old thread to post your support for UW?

You use this telephone thread, but you are in the main commenting on the UW's energy prices. (But it turns out your new on line store does have a connection with telephones!)

Discussion on the UW's energy business is forbidden outside of the UW thread on the gas/electric board - (where you will find lots more on their false advertising etc).

Erm nope, I commented on a post and it got replied so I replied and so on. So dont accuse me of something I am not doing please. Can I not post my opinion and then answer questions I recieve?
