O/S Daily Monday 26 November 2012 O/S Daily Monday 26 November 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 26 November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Thanks for all the good wishes for mum - she was going out of their house and was standing on the doorstep and wrung her foot over resulting in a few choice words etc and then was in loads of pain and couldn't walk on it so went to the hospital and they x-rayed it and shes' broken a metatarsal (sp?) and torn ligaments/tendons - they're hoping she could be out of plaster a few days before xmas!

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light, much less blustery but very wet underfoot here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was delicious roast chicken and all the trimmings, washed down with a few glasses of chilled white wine - all very nice. Had a chilled afternoon and evening, watched some tv, spent some time on pc and read my book. Friends came over to bring some items over that we couldn't fit in our car when we came home last weekend and they were going to a village near us to a meeting, so dropped in en route.

Dinner tonight will be pork chops, with LO's - fridge is packed to the point where I'm having to shuffle everything around to get bits in and take bits out - will only be using items from there as otherwise it will get wasted. Have a sketchy menu plan for the week so will have a good go at emptying the fridge without throwing anything anyway.

Back to work for me today, can't believe that a week's holiday time can go by so quickly, yet it seems ages since I was at work! I'm reasonably pleased with how much I got done whilst I was off, I did get the main bits done I wanted to, namely made the xmas cake, xmas puds and bought most of the prezzies and got them wrapped etc.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

    morning all!

not been around over the weekend - working all weekend. We had a lovely evening at the International Tattoo in Birmingham, our service users loved it and even though they are blind they both got such a lot out of the music - it was wonderful to see their faces:)

Lots of flooded roads round here. I had to go through a lot of water to get to work. Yesterday my car broke down at work - the clutch siezed up. Luckily a very nice AA man helped me out:T

Am up early to dye my hair before work. House tidy. A mountain of washing to get through.

HM fish cakes defrosting for tea.

nmlc - hope your Mum is soon on the mend x

Louie dog is doing well, he's coping well with his lampshade on:D

    Luna - hope you're feeling better x

Have a great day all and take care if you need to go through any floodwater x
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Good Morning Nmlc & all to follow

Fingers and toes crossed that your Mum does get out of plaster for Xmas Nmlc

Very wet and miserable here but no flooding so we are counting ourselves very lucky after seeing some of the pictures on the news, hope everyone on here is safe and dry.

Have already done 99.9% of my office todo list today which is a lovely feeling and needed as will be here there and everywhere today. Am dropping kids off then heading into Chelmsford as OH needs a new pair of smart trousers. Then will hopefully be going to Kent to pick up one of our lorries which has just been repaired and popping into our other mechanics on the way home.

Need a couple of birthday cards and will keep an eye for Xmas pressies along the way.

House is neat and tidy and will remain so till 4pm when the kids get back :rotfl:

Will be an easy tea tonight, leftover roast for OH & myself and macaroni cheese for the kids.

    Have a good day all.x

Topsy - hope work goes ok for you today. It is dreadful being told that you can't do the job but what are they doing to help you learn how to learn? Remember that you have a right to training and mentoring and that they have failed you if they dont provide it. Keep a diary of events. Hugs.

Im sorting out the dining room today:eek: I have joined the Hoarding Thread :eek:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Morning nmlc and taplady.

I hope your mum is ok nmlc x

Well I have a,, 3 children off school today. Toddler still has is cold so am keeping him off nursery. Middle child has sore throat. Eldest woke up today with headache and sore throat. Am waiting for them to give it to me.

It's bin day today. It's pouring down with rain ATM so am putting off putting the bags out. It's very wet here, but the floods haven't touched our bit of the country. I do so feel for those affected by the floods.

I've got the kitchen to clean today from the flylady thread. I also need to do my ironing and clean the bathroom.

I also have a shop to do today. Have my menu plan and my shopping list. Am using Morrisons to get the voucher at Christmas time.

Right, will declutter this coffee and get on.

Love, hugs and spoons to all

    Morning all,

Terrible rain here again last night and the sky is very dark and full of it, no flooding here, I hope everyone is safe.

Off to portsmouth today, more for dd than me, although I will probably pick up a few stocking fillers, we will have lunch whilst there, I will prepare a chicken casserole befoe we go, ready to shove in the oven when we get back.

Cleaned dd's room of doom yesterday _pale_ it was very bad, she has promised to keep on top of it now, but we will see :D

Loads of washing to do, but the house looks like a laundry with washing drapped all over, so wont do any today.

Need to post some Ebay parcels today too.

Topsy, I feel for you, what a horrible work situation xx

    Have good days all xx

Morning all, first child gone to school, will take second in a minute then off to get some wool and do a Tesco shop. Pouring down here, roads closed and the rain is coming through our roof down through the newly plastered kitchen wall. Grr! OH is spending the day routing round under the eaves to find out where it's coming from. I will hopefully be off to a craft class tonight and will be making a felt Christmas wreath! According to forecast, rain set to stay in one place all day, so will do something warming for tea!

Hugs to all those unwell or down and hope no one gets flooded.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all,

Busy day for me today. Have to pick up some chair sashes for the wedding to take over with me. Also need to change some shoes and a few other bits to do in town. I have a list. Also need to try and get a support for my knee. It's becoming very painful and sore, not when I'm running but afterwards I really suffer.
Just spoke to dd, she has had to take a day off with DGS who has been sick all night, with a temperature. So she has bedding off both beds to wash and try and dry, he seems much better not so hopefully only a 24 hr thing.
Crickley hall was so scary last night, made me dream so will be giving it a miss next week, I am such a wuss:o
The house is clean and washing pretty much up to date. No idea what to do for tea, I am so uninspired food wise at the moment. Luckily my family are not too fussy but I need to make more of an effort.
Mrs MH hope your little ones feel better soon

Best get on, have a nice day all x

    Morning :hello:

I've caught the cold that's going around. I don't usually like taking tablets but after watching everyone else with it, I dosed up the second it started. I've lost my appetite too, so am taking multi-vitamins - don't agree with those for a normally healthy person, I think you should get what you need from healthy food - but at least I'm getting something :D

I'm impatiently waiting for a delivery :D I ordered a set of 14 crochet hooks for £5.99 + £4.00 delivery. Is that a good price? I wanted to buy them from a little local shop, she only opens a few mornings a week. Well, that's what the sign says but I can never catch her in. That's the only place I know of round here that sells them. I'm a bit miffed about it because I'd rather support small local businesses but how do you do that when they never stick to their opening times?

I'm not doing much today, just pottering about til I feel a bit more energetic.

Had a lovely evening with my friend Helen. She was 50 yesterday. We went to the Harvester at Eastbourne and had a lovely meal together. Came home via Battle, where we looked at the Christmas lights. Battle always looks lovely, they even light up Battle Abbey ramparts!:T Got home and watched Strictly results. So glad Victoria (the whinger) is out. I don't like Brendan either, so that pleased me!:rotfl:

Cat drove me nuts jumping up and down on me all night. The wind seems to whip him up in to a frenzy!

Cleaning the oven this morning, and must do some ironing too.:o

Don't know what dinner will be.

(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) to anyo9ne who needs one.

nmic Hope mum gets better soon.
