Unknown Car Insurance Companies???

Hello, my renewal is up in December for a 51 plate 1.6 Focus with an additional driver, full comprehensive with 11 NCB. My renewal price from my current insurer is over £800. Now using confused.com and moneysupermarket.com I have found much better quotes but i'm unsure if the companies are reputable and reliable. Hopefully somebody can give me some advice. Here they are in order:

Moneysupermarket.com

I don't know anything about any of these companies and the cheapest price i'm getting from a known company is from AXA for around £600. Also I have no idea why PerformanceDirect have two very different prices from differing comparison sites.

Most of the "unknowns" will be brokers or intermediaries and so not actually the insurer.

Companies may show different rates with different aggregators for a variety of reasons such as strategy, brand match, commercial deals, different mapping of aggregators options to companies options, different defaults for optional extras/xs, different product/terms etc
