Protection for my Samsung Tab

I am waiting delivery of my Samsung Tab. My son will be using it. Looking for the following to protect it :-
1. A case and a screen protector
2. Antivirus software. Have used AVG on my smartphone. Was thinking of using it on the Samsung
Any feedback on above?

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
