Seriously Historic Subsidence - do i need to declare
fuzzhead
I am in currently in the process of buying a house. On the info sheets provided by the solicitor and answered by the seller when asked about subsidence, he has written "Yes, but not in my time in the house, since 1967".
So it seems that there is some history of subsidence but it has not been in the time of the seller who has been in the property 45 years! Do I need to declare when applying for buildings and contents insurance? Seems abit much given the length of time.
Any guidance would be grately appreciated!

It will depend on the question asked. If it asks for subsindence within x years, then yes if its within that timeframe. If it simply asks for knowledge of subsidence, then yes you would.
Not disclosing it is not a sensible choice, given that most insurers will not take on subs risks it is asking for a policy to be voided ab initio if a major claim occurs.0
