I sold an item on ebay last night and the buyer has paid via paypal, I went to log in tonight and realised when I listed the item on the ipad last weekend I input the wrong email address for paypal. I have no paypal account on this email and therefore how can they have paid me. I have tried to ask for a password for the account but paypal tell me it doesn't exist. Will the payment bounce back to the buyer?? not sure what to do, I googled and there was a thread saying add an additional email on the same account but I can't see how to do this.
Not sure what to do can anyone help. That's what happens when I list things when I'm tired!!

Hi
I did this but had put an old closed down email address on the listing and when i look at my 'sold' it says 'pending'. Basically I will never be able to claim it because I don't have the old email address - best thing to do is contact customer ask them to cancel current payment and explain and say you will issue them with a new invoice. Go into paypal and go to 'request money' and send it to their email address with details of what they have bought and all should be ticketty boo. I was tired too when I did this and have missed out on about 4 sales as the customers either didn;t read their emails or couldn't be bothered to do as i asked - a lesson learned!
Hope it gets sorted:j0 -
Customer services cannot interfere with a buyers payment.
OP, you need to contact the buyer and grovel a bit, get them to cancel their payment (this only works if the account is not capable of being a paypal account and it should show as unclaimed on their payment details. Explain to them what you have done and tell them you will give them time to get the cleared funds back and in a few days you will then send them a direct paypal invoice for the payment- for which you will need their email address.
If the payment shows as claimed their end then they cannot recall it and they (and you) will have to wait 30 days for it to bounce back.
Unfortunately an ipad and an unclaimed payment and then a request to pay direct will make a lot of inexperienced buyers believe you are scamming then- and they may be unwilling to repay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
