Wilkinson Stores

  • I like Wilkinsons a lot as well! Their toiletries/cleaners etc are good value and usually cheaper than the supermarkets.

I haven't been in one terribly recently though, as I've doing the downshift in brands challenge, and most of the Wilkos stuff is branded. In most cases I've switched to Tescos own and am happy with the quality.

That being said, I do buy the 15p notebooks from Wilkos! They are the absolute perfect size for putting in my handbag (you never know when you'll need to write something down when out and about), or for doing shopping lists. For 15p, you can't complain.

I've never bought food from there though, bar the very occasional pack of sweets. Very occasionally there are a few boxes of eggs, or pre-packed sarnies. But they never look appetizing. Everything else is just tinned, boxed stuff. That is usually cheaper from the supermarket.

They are good for some DIY stuff though. I bought paint brushes, nails, screws, bits of wood etc from there in the past. Although it can be hit and miss with what is on the shelf. And around holiday times, the real good bargains tend to get squeezed out and replaced by isles of holiday tat. ;)

Wilkies are great at the end of the year when you can pick up garden seeds that are 75% off. I must have about 50pkts of veg and flowers.

I'm a big fan of Wilkos. Their bulbs (flower, not light :)) are really good for the price. Some of their own brand stuff can be a little bit shonky (everyday value mop bucket, I'm looking at you) but if you're careful you can get some real bargains.
  • Again a fan but don't get there much either, 2hr free parking limits which shops i can go into when in town. It tends to be last on my list and don't fit it in on time.

Their scented tealights are a bargain. They are £1.50 or £1.75 for 30.

If you order your goods online, Quidco gives 4% cashback. You can pick up from your local store and they give you a call when it's ready. It takes a couple of days for the order to be made up so you have to be a bit organised\!

I use to use Wilkinsons all the time for Christmas decorations when growing up. Living in London there aren't many discount stores, but there is a Wilkinsons in Wembley Town along with loads of other cheap shops like Poundstretcher, Primark, Iceland, Poundland, 99p Store and TK Maxx.

I decided to buy my Christmas decs this year, glad I did everywhere else I looked seemed very expensive in comparison. Need to go back there. Plus they do old school biscuits in those shops like Wagon Wheels and pink wafers! I can never find them in my local supermarket.

Thanks ka, I'd forgotten that facility We only have a small shop and it's not particulrly nearby so that would be useful.

I have had some great bargains from Wilkinsons like a lovely light fitting and some reduced, plain white bone china crockery (4 dinner plates/4 side plates/4 bowls for £7:D) when they were changing ranges.

Mostly I think you have to go in there and apply the same logic as any other shopping. I understand that OP made a huge saving when compared with Tesco and Waitrose but if you compare, for instance, many of the toiletries with the same brands at Poundland they can be moe expensive.

Not specifically looked for Wagon Wheels, but I think I have seen them but definitely pink wafers are available at Sainsburys because I bought some last week, its their own make.
