I suggested a number of places, round about the Yorkshire/Lancashire belt not because I live there (it would be 2-4 hours travel depending) but because it was reasonably centrally located.

They were all reasonably easy to get to - Whitby/Scarbourgh/Cleethorpes are spurs off the East Coast mainline, and Blackpool is a spur off the west coast line.

The road network round there is fine as well.

The problem with London being "easy to get to" as a number of posters have said is that it is in the South East - very much so. So for those in the West and the North, they have to travel across to the opposite side of England to get there. Those in Scotland will have to travel to the other end of Britain in order to get there.

This is so the people in London do not have to travel.

Would anyone like to step up and sell that concept.

ZTD, you're along the right lines there I think. The fact is, I dont think everyone would be able to agree on one place where we could all meet up - it would have to be central, so that people from Scotland aren't travelling to London and vice versa. Whitby/Scarbrough/Cleethorpes/Blackpool are all reasonably easy to get to for a lot of people I think....? And then a seperate one for people down south?

    Personally IA,
I'd prefer Blackpool...I've never been and I WANT TO RIDE A DONKEY!

I think the 2 meets might be the way to go...

Bunny this is probably a very good idea. I would have a real problem getting to London, think the drive alone would probably be 4-5hrs depending where in London...
Don't know how long on the train, and how much it would be? Anyone any rough ideas?

Blackpool on the other hand, would be an hour..

First, we should try to reach a consensus on the dividing line between "north" and "south". I would not have suggested Scarbrough if the people from the "south" weren't coming.

Once that is done, then we will have to reach a consensus on the meeting place for the "north" - having seen what is reasonably central for people.

The "south" is easy - no matter where the line is drawn, the meeting will be in London.
