Hi Peachyprice, he has boarded with a lady before, he is happy with that but always pleased to see me. I have spoken to her and she wants to think about it because its Christmas. I am just worried it might be his last xmas and I'll be far away!0

Have you heard of Waggy Tailz just off the A1 between Peterborough and Grantham? Laura has several of her own dogs (mainly cockapoos) and homeboards as well. We went to see Laura last week and it was like doggy heaven!

Can you not find another dog sitter? I stopped using kennels for my dog because although he would go there happily the first time as he obviously did not know where he was, when he was taken back a second time he would cry and have to be dragged in. I tried about 7 or 8 different kennels and each time was the same. He went to kennels the first time when he was pretty young (about 11 months).
I came to the conclusion that it could well have been that he was used to company most of the time. I was home with him as I didn't work and he was never really left for more than 2 or 3 hours (I would get someone to sit with him if I was going to be out for longer than that).
I started using dog sitters and he was great with them. Also I found they were not really any more expensive than kennelsThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Hi
His current dog sitter has said n, she feels he is too old and she would be worried if anything was to go wrong.
I'm looking at one nearer my mums - just incase!0 -
Never mind, just thought I'd offer in case your Xmas plans were local to me, and it might have been less stressful to you, and you could be sure the dog was in a family home, and keeping his elderly joints warm, with walks as far as suited him.
Sally, I could offer you a dog walk somewhere half way between you and me or somewhere near you after christmas? My big dog, and the pup? Maybe the limpy dog will be able to have a short stretch legs my then too?
Mine don't walk far ATM being old, you d and lame respectively but they do like a fuss and a new walking spot, and because of the very young and the very lame, are unusually going to have to stay on leads, so the more exciting the walk the better, leads are the lame dogs 'worst thing', she lives to run.0 -
thank you, poor lady I hope she is ok,
I have got him in a kennel about 10 mins from my mums, so atleast I am nearby just in case!0 -
Wish me luck tomorrow when I put him in the kennels - I will be a blubbering wreck!0

Don't fall for the sad eye devastated look they give you when you shut them in, they go back to normal as soon as you leave!
Mine make all kinds of song and dance when I leave them and when I come back for them, but they're perfectly fine inbetween, they're just trying to make me feel guilty.
I crept in through the back door where they couldn't see me last time I picked them up, they were caught red handed, one relaxing with a stag bar and one fast asleep.
Enjoy your Christmas, he'll be fine, I promise.0 -
Well, he was perfectly fine all week! He is now on his favourite bed in the dining room looking rather blissed out with a definite doggy smile for being back where he belongs. :-)0
