Amazon Black Friday con!

I thought I had secured a blu ray disc last night for £8.49 on the Black Friday deals (it came up "claimed" on screen and I completed checkout within the time), however at checkout it said £17, I know there was a post that said some other people had reported this, so I left it.

I get the confirmation email which states the price is £17 and then this morning I get the despatch email which says the same.

I get onto the chat and get an agent to check the order and he/she confirms that I didn't qualify for the deal and the price is £17. I ask to cancel the item and they tell me I can't as it's already at despatch stage. The only way I can cancel is to refuse delivery when it arrives (how do I this if the postie just drops it through the letterbox?).

Am really annoyed, not about paying that price, but the fact I believed I had got the deal, when I hadn't. :(

    My emphasis.

In what way was this a con?

At checkout it said £17 and you noticed this, but decided to leave it, based on something you read on the internet. Perhaps not the best of decisions.
Then knowing this you authorised this £17 payment.
The confirmation email said £17 and you still left it!

OK you may have missed the deal, but the price at checkout is what you must pay.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can return the DVD unopened under DSR

But you bought it, how can you say you 'left it'

People are so quick to use the work 'con'

It was down to you, just send it back unopened if the postie delivers it through the letter box.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Thanks for your sympathies anyway :rotfl:

It was the 1st time I'd ever done the Black friday thing, so didn't know how it works. I thought that was normal to see that price at checkout. :(

Did it show a credit on the last payment page? All my black Friday deals have been fine...

You can still send it back under DSR for 7 days.

I can't remember that to be honest.

Thanks. It's a pity they don't give you a bit longer to cancel, it had already gone to despatch stage early Sunday morning, so I couldn't stop it.
