New Build Creaking

I've been in just over a year and expect the odd creak here and there, mostly from floorboards which the builder has rectified shortly after having reported them issue.
However last night, whether it be due the strong winds (although we've had these all week), a creak/rattle developed that kept me up most the night (very light sleeper) and I will have to resort to earplugs until the builder can come out and rectify the problem.
I've been up in the loft 3 times this morning to see if there was anything obvious causing the noise but even with the insulation pulled back nothing jumped out at me. I could hear the noise but not locate the source.
It's only at one end of the house and can be heard in both rooms upstairs and also the lounge downstairs which spans the length of both rooms. Because of this I have a feeling it's the metal joists for the dividing wall/walls upstairs. The roof joists run parallel to the sides of the house.
It's still doing it now intermittently. I've a feeling it might be quite a messy remedy!

Definitely sounds like metal on metal to me? Anyone had something similar?
Thanks,
BennyC
On second thoughts it could be on the eaves where they meet with the ceiling and are joined by metal plates (V shape), but that doesn't explain the noise heard in the lounge.
