Well done Suzy - a result and one less to worry about.

The way you were feeling in post #15 is entirely natural but temporary. Over the coming weeks you will get used to a new way of thinking about these debts and also have less hours awake worrying.

I have £70+k of debt with DCAs and have been where you were in post #15 myself.

You have done the hard bit and you have hit bottom - it will get better from now on. Well done. And congratulations.

Be sure to cancel any 'continuous payment authorities' with these companies.
    David @ NDL.
    Thanks for the support.

Do you have a factsheet on cancelling CPAs?

If not, I would suggest Suzy writes a simple letter to the PDL companies saying the following:

    "Re: Account Details

Any Payment Authority you (or your associates) have for me is revoked. You will not request any further payment from any account I hold.

You are reminded of your obligations under the Payment Services Regulations 2009."

    End of.

Thanks for those Minicredit details - that's what I love about these boards. There are loads of people who have been in the same situation and have contact details not otherwise known :T
  • Swift sterling are fine and Mr lender are fine too. Just remain in contact. As long as you don't ignore them. Wage day are pretty cool too. (In my experience) if you can pay mini credit off at once I recommend you do as they are horrible. Sorry to be blunt.

I've already given all the details to Step Change incl Mini-Credit. Before contacting them to set up a DMP, I had considered trying to pay off Mini-Credit to be rid of them but the only way to do that would be to not pay rent or Council tax or electricity and that's not ideal.

If the others are ok - and I will stay in regular email contact and respond to all emails etc - then I can cope with one lender harassing me and I'll just come here for advice on how to deal with each threat they make.

Well today was payday and I was stressing about money going into new account etc so very late night staying up and then up early to see if the old bank account had let payments go through!

    1. Pay went into new account - relief! off to bed!
    2. Checked Nationwide 1st thing - no payments to pay day loans (4/6 due today).

Texts/emails started around 830am re. missed payment.

Swift Sterling called work number but when I explained worked in Cancer dept, they agreed to mark the number as no contact and to phone my mobile after 5pm. I also explained I had emailed them. I decided to call them on my lunch break to check they had the email and they confirmed they had and that now the Debt Management team would liaise with Step Change and no further attempts to be made at taking money!

Pay Day UK - phoned mobile and as I was not busy and alone in office I answered it. Explained I had emailed etc and they took Step Change ref. number and agreed to put account on hold 30 days. Also gave my bank details so I could make token payment. Everything confirmed to me in email.

Wage Day Advance - emailed me re. missed payment and I emailed back with copy of original email stating entering into DMP plus I also phoned at lunchtime to confirm they had received the email. They took ref. number for Step Change and have put account on hold for 7 days while they wait for paperwork and Letter of Authority. I've sent this 1st class to Step Change today and messaged them via contact page. WDA also emailed to confirm phone call details so I've informed them that I've been in contact with Step Change. I will contact WDA again on Monday to see where they are as they have said if no response in 7 days they will assume I'm not going ahead with DMP. 7 days seems a bit harsh but at least they are putting it on hold for now - although they did get £10 off my debit card but will not make further attempts.

So that's good responses from 4/6 lenders so far.

1MonthLoan will default tomorrow (Weds) and MiniCredit on Thursday! Will see how that goes! :)

Following on with updates from the other PD Lenders:

1MonthLoan - I've had no contact at all from them in terms of chasing phone calls, emails, texts but just logged into my account and they've added £12 default charge and adding £4.73 per day in interest.

MiniCredit - no hassling phone calls (I was expecting!), no emails but 2 x texts saying to make a payment and that I had a £25 default charge added but they must also be adding interest as gone from owing £292.60 (Loan plus 1mth interest) to a balance today of £337.

So I'm just about to email them again - do I just state exactly the same as previously that I am entering a DMP which Step Change say will be set up to start in Jan 2013 and ask them to freeze charges (I know they are under no obligation but I can ask :rotfl:).

Also I notice on my MiniCredit account that there is a 'Hardship' form that from reading elsewhere seems to be that if I fill it in that they then pass the dept to their in-house DCA who will then freeze charges/interest? My only concern is that it has to be faxed and the only fax I would have is a work one and I would want them sending anything back to that fax number.

Other than that, I'm no longer on edge about phone calls. I'll need to speak to Wage Day Advance again on Monday as they only gave 7 days for Step Change to send in paperwork but I'e spoken to them and they said they will send it all in January.

Thanks for your advice guys! :j
