Directline / Autoglass

Woke up yesterday to a broken rear window and thought "Fab, that's my day wasted." How wrong was I? Called Autoglass about 9.15 and it was all sorted by 11.45!! Very helpful and professional staff.

Can't believe it was as easy as it is in the advert! Lots of companies could learn from them (Yes Heatline, I'm looking at you!!!!)

Talking about car windows, leads me on to some good advice.

I have a contract vehicle, and my insurance does not cover for window damage.

I recently had a smashed windscreen and rang up the contract co to see who they used. They said Autoglass. I rang them up and asked how much a windscreen would be, said paying direct and was told 40% discount as not covered by insurance, so would be £435+vat. Nearly fell off my chair ! Rang around a few places and rang National windscreens. They came back with £135 inc vat and it was the manufacturer approved screen too. Drove to the workshop as price was only for shop fitted and got car back hour later £300+vat better off!.

Advice is, if your insurance doesn't cover windows, do a bit of shopping around and you will get a deal better than the big names. National windscreens is a big name, but work on a branch by branch basis by the looks of it.

Yeahhh Autoglass, the glass folk that twice my insures have sent to me for replacement windscreens.

First one they installed cracked due to them fitting it wrong, the local centre refused it was their fault till I complained to their head office, they then begrudgingly replaced it.

Most recently, had a huge crack in the window so was going to be a fail on mot, insurers sent them out, duiring the install the fitter dropped the windscreen onto the bonnet chipping the paint work and denting the bonnet. Denied all knowledge of the incident did the fitter as expected. Took a complaint to AA to get it sorted, cost them £180 to get the bonnet refilled and resprayed.

In my eyes they are c rap !
